About

Yut Cheung Season 5 returns as a vibrant celebration of Cantonese music and culture, bridging the artistic gap between Melbourne and Sydney through a dynamic two-city competition format.

This grand stage is made possible through the dedicated efforts of the Australia Canton Multicultural Development Association Inc in collaboration with the Melbourne Jiangmen Wuyi Youth Association Inc and Sydney Jiangmen Wuyi Youth Association Inc. It is a true community milestone, powered by the spirit of heritage and the "Force of Heritage"—a coalition of student and cultural organizations including Monash CSSA, RMIT CSSA, Unimelb CSSA , CSA,UMCMG, etc.

At its core, the event aims to engage a new generation of performers and audiences. By providing a professional platform for young talents, the competition nurtures emerging voices and ensures the cultural relevance of Cantonese music remains strong in a contemporary, global context.

What defines this season is its remarkable diversity. Many participants are non-native Cantonese speakers from various linguistic backgrounds, united by a genuine passion for the language's unique melody. This cross-cultural engagement reflects the growing influence of Cantonese culture within Australia’s multicultural landscape.

We are profoundly grateful to our "patrons of the arts"—our sponsors who make this spotlight possible. From professional services like Cyan Accounting & Advisory and LINX Law, to industry leaders such as Stonemart, Ben and Vicky Roofing, and Hyatt Construction, their support ensures that our cultural flame continues to burn bright.

More than a competition, Yut Cheung is a commitment to ensuring that Cantonese music continues to evolve, thrive, and resonate across generations.

Presented by Melbourne Jiangmen Wuyi Youth Association Inc.
